Unbreakable® Telescopic Umbrella Model U-303 is offered in two versions:
DIY Assembly kit — for customers who want to save on our cost of assembly and don’t mind spending on it about 8 minutes, plus a 24-hour wait for a threadlocker to cure. This page describes the DIY Assembly kit version.
Fully Assembled — for customers who are personal protection professionals, are familiar with similar tools, and want it ready to use out of a box, even though it costs more than the DIY Assembly kit.

Unbreakable® Telescopic Umbrella Model U-303 vs. two-by-four

Unbreakable® Telescopic Umbrella comes with an Emergency Car Window Breaker.

Model U-303 is as sturdy as the video above shows because, unlike ordinary collapsible umbrellas, its telescopic shaft, when extended, is locked by friction locks. In ordinary collapsible umbrellas, shafts are locked by small flat spring latches or ball catches. In this umbrella, no such weak parts are used for locking its shaft.

What’s more, for a shaft with friction locks to work well for many years, the shaft’s tubes cannot be made from cheap thin steel, like those of ordinary umbrellas. Therefore, tubes of the shaft of our model U-303 are machined from strong materials — high quality tool steel and aircraft aluminum — but these materials are expensive and working them is expensive too, so to make model U-303 affordable, we sell it as a kit for DIY assembly, so you may assemble it, and thus save on the cost of an assembly at a factory.

Unbreakable® Telescopic Umbrella model U-303 is sold as a DIY kit, to be assembled by buyers. This is to keep it affordable.

These are the parts and tools needed for assembly of Model U-303, which is simple with easy-to-follow video instructions. To see the assembly instructions, click here. You will also see these instructions, plus an extended version of the video on how to use model u-303, when you click Add to cart button.

The Unbreakable® Telescopic (Collapsible) Umbrella protects

The Unbreakable® Telescopic (Collapsible) Umbrella protects against rain and many other things. . . . Whacks as strong as a steel pipe — it weighs 1 lb and 3.2 oz (545 g).

  • Does not bring unwanted attention
  • The best-dual purpose accessory
  • Protects against rain and many other things….

BTW, the umbrella’s finial (the large screw at the center of the umbrella’s canopy) is made of carbon steel, and massive enough to serve as an Emergency Car Window Breaker.

Self-Defense with the Unbreakable® Telescopic Umbrella

Our Unbreakable® Umbrella’s looks do not arouse suspicion, it can be carried everywhere, and it protects from rain (it is covered in state-of-the-art waterproof fabric). Anyone who can use a baton or a club for defense can use this umbrella.

Our Unbreakable® Telescopic Umbrellas model U-303 perform in rain and wind just like the highest quality rain umbrellas. Frames of Unbreakable® Telescopic Umbrellas Model U-303 are hand-made, with telescopic shafts made of high-strength steel and aircraft aluminum, and canopy supports of polyester-fiberglass laminates. Telescopic shafts of these frames can support well over 100-kg (220-lb) weight when fully extended and, if not abused, will last more than a lifetime. Frames of Unbreakable® Telescopic Umbrellas are warranted not to break under normal use (see our Limited Five (5) Year Warranty).

Use and Care Instructions
Not following these instructions voids the Unbreakable® Telescopic Umbrella Model’s U-303 warranty.

We honor warranty claims only from original individual purchasers of our products, who have accepted our Condition for Purchase.

Unbreakable® Telescopic Umbrella Model U-303 — How to Use It. Pay special attention to a procedure shown from minute 2 (2:00) to minute 2 and 55 seconds (2:55).

Unbreakable® Telescopic Umbrella Model U-303 — How to Assemble It.

Please note: The end tube of the Unbreakable® Telescopic Umbrella Model’s U-303 telescopic shaft is made of high-strength construction steel, not stainless steel, and so are parts inside that tube. Should water get inside the shaft, the shaft should be removed from the canopy, and the retaining-spring’s assembly should be unscrewed from the shaft, so to remove water from the shaft, dry its inside, and then oil it. Oiling is to be done by putting a drop of machine oil inside the end tube and then moving the friction-release mechanism back and forth by the umbrella’s handle.

Whenever your umbrella gets wet, leave it open to dry. Allow your umbrella’s canopy to dry fully before folding. Otherwise, mold will grow on the umbrella’s fabric. As mold grows, it creates enzymes, which digest the fabric’s fibers on which it is growing, causing permanent fabric damage and weakening, with a result like this case described.

The Unbreakable® Telescopic Umbrella is for defending against….

IMPORTANT!
Our Unbreakable® Telescopic Umbrella is for defending against elements (in every meaning of the word) and not for clowning. It is covered in a high-quality waterproof fabric, not in abrasion proof or slash proof fabric, because it has to look, weigh, and work like a normal umbrella, so do not expect this fabric to be undamaged if you strike objects with the Unbreakable® Telescopic Umbrella.

NOTE
The Unbreakable® Telescopic Umbrella Model U-303 is compact U-303 (10.4 inch long), but weighing 1 lb 3.2 oz (545 g), it feels massive in a hand, so if allowed to be handled by strangers, it is more likely to arouse their curiosity than our walking-stick umbrellas or U-212s. This has implications for air travel.

Snaps to “attention” like my best expandable baton. Good for when you need something like that ready in hand without looking belligerent.

Will this item clear USA TSA screening in a carry-on-bag? K asked on 2026-03-23 @ 14:29

Theoretically you can take this telescopic umbrella on a flight. However, please keep in mind that TSA agents may feel otherwise.

Our experience shows that to avoid theft at a TSA security checks, our telescopic umbrellas should be packed in the carry-on luggage, rather than carried in hand or otherwise stupidly flaunted.

As the U-303 umbrella telescopic shaft is not made from stainless steel, and the instructions say machine oil is recommended if it gets wet - does this mean this umbrella must be disassembled to apply machine oil every single time we use it out in the rain ? Since it's not possible to be certain whether any water has entered the shaft after using the umbrella in the rain? James asked on 2026-02-16 @ 04:14

The instructions do not say, “to apply machine oil every single time we use it out in the rain.” The instructions say, “Should water get inside the shaft, the shaft should be removed from the canopy, ... so to remove water from the shaft, dry its inside, and then oil it.”

You wrote, “it's not possible to be certain whether any water has entered the shaft after using the umbrella in the rain.” It is possible to know whether water entered the shaft after using the umbrella in the rain -- if the shaft is retracted when wet, and then extended, water will be visible on the umbrella's steel tube. But then how special an individual needs to be not to wipe water off the shaft before retracting it?

BTW, shafts of most collapsible umbrellas are made of non-stainless (carbon) steel like, for example, the shaft of the UZI® Tactical Collapsible Umbrella. In an unlikely event water gets inside its shaft, it is not designed to be taken apart, so we think you'd like it. For info on how to use the UZI® Tactical Collapsible Umbrella, view https://youtu.be/D0YeccycNbc
