Fakes and Knockoffs of the Unbreakable® Umbrella in the U.S.A.
Now and then some poor sap who bought a cheap imitation of our Unbreakable® Umbrella comes crying that the cheap imitation has broken. Below are videos and pictures of some of those imitations, such as the Indestructible Umbrella™, the Security Umbrella, Walther® Tactical “Carbon Tac” Umbrella, the Night Watchman Self Defense Umbrella, which has the same frame (the same parts from the same manufacturer) as the Walther® Tactical Umbrella and the UZI Tactical Umbrella, only with a bit differently shaped handle. If you bought one of those, thinking you got yourself the Unbreakable® Umbrella, you have been fooled.

Warning: Fakes and Knockoffs of the Unbreakable® Umbrella on Amazon
More and more often we are contacted by people who were cheated, mostly on Amazon. They wanted to buy the Unbreakable® Umbrella but were sold a cheap and weak fake. When the fake breaks, they contact us and learn they have been had–they are not likely to get a refund from the Amazon’s Marketplace seller nor from Amazon. Below are videos showing how one such brand, the Indestructible Umbrella™, compares to the authentic Unbreakable® Umbrella.

So, if you absolutely must buy on Amazon, here is how to protect yourself against this fraud:
1. Before you buy, COMPARE the advertised item to the genuine Unbreakable® Umbrella at unbreakableumbrella.com. Duh!
2. After you buy and receive the item, COMPARE the delivered item to the genuine Unbreakable® Umbrella at unbreakableumbrella.com. Duh!
In case you get a fake and Amazon refuses to refund your money, we suggest requesting your credit card to make a chargeback–but you must do it within 90 days of the purchase. But, even if you were too late to do the chargeback, there may be a way for you to get your money’s worth (and get back at the cheats). To find out more send us a message with subject “fakes on amazon” through our Contact page.
Amazon.com: Error or Fraud?
Does your “Unbreakable Umbrella” bought on Amazon.com look like the one below?
Well, if its details look like in the above picture, then it is not the Unbreakable® Umbrella. It is a cheap and weak generic umbrella, the dollar-store quality.
If you paid Amazon.com for the Unbreakable® Umbrella but got the above piece of trash, contact us and we will let you know how you may try to get your money back. By the way, with that piece of trash you might have gotten fecal bacteria from Amazon warehouse workers packing the book and Amazon drivers delivering it.

Fakes and Knockoffs of the Unbreakable® Umbrella in the European Union
In the European Union many were sold a crude, poorly designed imitation of our Unbreakable® Walking-Stick Umbrella. The imitation made by E.I. Limited/Gerhard Spannbauer is called either Security Umbrella, or Selbstverteidigungsschirm, or Sicherheitsschirm. Here is what one reviewer wrote about this imitation:
“One Gerhard Spannbauer is selling a self-defense umbrella, called Selbstverteidigungsschirm [also called Security Umbrella and Self-Defense Umbrella], but he makes it look like yours! His company also uses your video for marketing his cheap knockoff umbrellas on Amazon.
“I tested Spannbauers umbrella and it not worth 40 USD–three strikes, three breaks (see photos below)! This will not be good for your excellent umbrellas–they are looking similar and Spannbauer uses the same marketing as before with your umbrella.”

The knockoff manufacturer, E.I. Limited/Gerhard Spannbauer, tried to match the performance of Unbreakable® Umbrellas but failed–even though he made his umbrellas more massive. He just didn’t have NTOI’s expertise. See photo below.

Sellers of the Security Umbrella, or Selbstverteidigungsschirm, or Sicherheitsschirm (in France deceptively advertised as “Parapluie Incassable,” French for “unbreakable umbrella”) are using fake video demos–doing weak slaps against a soft punching bag, with frequent cuts to hide breaking of the umbrella’s ribs and locking mechanism and to substitute a new umbrella for the next take. Take a look at one such demo and judge for yourself:
Watch closely bag strikes on the above video from GoDefense.fr and MyUrbanKit.com and you will see this:
5 strikes–cut–1 strike–cut–2 strikes–cut–1 strike–cut–1 strike–cut–2 strikes and the final umbrella is opened.
Why these cuts? Why not show the uncut test, from the first strike to the opening of the umbrella? Here you can see why:
Tests of Unbreakable® Umbrellas are shown without any cuts–because they are not faked. Here is an example:

Examples of imitations sold in Australia are Security Umbrella a.k.a. Selbstverteidigungsschirm, deceptively advertised as “Unbreakable Umbrella” and sold by Extac Australia Pty Ltd., and Night Watchman Self Defense Umbrella (the same as the Walther® Tactical Umbrella, but without Walther® branding and with a differently shaped handle). You may see how these imitations compare to the authentic Unbreakable® Umbrella.

Do you have distribution in UK?
Not at this time. We are working on it. Should we succeed, we will notify our subscribers and customers.
I’m always leery about products on Amazon being authentic (Amazon is LOADED with fakes).
I fell for the Security-umbrella.com. They have videos taken from this site and the shape of their products are so close I though you and them are the same company.
I bought two umbrellas and both are of low quality and one arrived broken.
This company does not have a working phone and all emails are ignored.
Return requests ask for the item to be shipped to HK on the buyers money and it is prohibitively expensive even though they send things out in California.
Luckily I paid with PayPal and I have started a claim.
Thank you for your comment. I just bought from them as well, thinking they were the real deal. The order has been confirmed but not shipped yet. After reading your comment I contacted the company to cancel the order and request a refund. I’ll wait to see what happens and may also start a claim with PayPal
