Review of the Unbreakable® Walking-Stick Umbrella with a Rubber Tip and a Groundless Guess on Self-Defense (Coconuts Were Harmed)

Our Unbreakable® Umbrella has no unusual parts, no more metal than an average umbrella, does not arouse suspicion, can be carried legally everywhere (including where any weapons are prohibited), unlike a walking stick it does not cause strange looks if carried by an able-bodied person, and it does protect from rain (it is covered in state-of-the-art waterproof fabric). Anyone who can use a stick for defense can use this umbrella.

Do you know how to swing a baseball bat? Do you know how to strike with a sturdy stick? If you do, you know all you need to know… Do you practice such martial arts as hapkido, jodo, kendo, kali, escrima, le baton or la canne? Do you practice with Chinese weapons or Indian weapons? Then you know even more… and you can truly appreciate this Unbreakable® Umbrella.

Our Unbreakable® Umbrellas are handcrafted in Poland from the highest quality materials and perform in rain and wind just like the highest quality rain umbrellas. Frames of Standard Unbreakable® Walking-Stick Umbrellas are machine-made with fiberglass and polyamide. Shafts of these frames can support well over 100-kg (220-lb) weight. Frames of Standard Unbreakable® Walking-Stick Umbrellas are warranted not to break under normal use (see our Limited Five (5) Year Warranty).

Each umbrella comes with a fabric sleeve/sheath, plus two free rubber tips, as our courtesy.

Unbreakable® Walking-Stick Umbrella in Self-Defense: How to Hold It and How to Strike with It

Whenever your umbrella gets wet, leave it open to dry. Allow your umbrella to dry fully before folding. Otherwise mold will grow on the umbrella’s fabric. As mold grows, it creates enzymes, which digest the fabric’s fibers on which it is growing, causing permanent fabric damage and weakening, with a result like this case described.

The Unbreakable® Walking-Stick Umbrella Model U-111 — for defending against….

Our Unbreakable® Umbrella is for defending against elements (in every meaning of the word) and not for clowning. It is covered in a high-quality waterproof fabric, not in abrasion proof or slash proof fabric, because it has to look, weigh, and work like a normal umbrella, so do not expect this fabric to be undamaged if you strike objects with the Unbreakable® Umbrella.

I have wanted one of these for a long time and when I finally got one I wasn't disappointed. It is a sturdy, stylish, and excellent umbrella with a smooth opening action. It is a simple design and only has one velcro strap which keeps it looking sharp when rolled up, unlike many other umbrellas I have had. It is also very light. I have not used it in the self-defense sense yet. I also appreciate the forethought in including the rubber tips for the end of the umbrella that touches the ground. This has always been one of my issues with other umbrellas I have owned, the part that comes in contact with the ground wears down and I have to do some ugly hack to make the tip more durable. When I see that this issue has been dealt with already, it tells me that a lot of thinking ahead happened before this product went to the market. I would also like to give a shout-out to Mr. Kurz for his customer service. When I was faced with a minor technical issue in regard to the online training recommended with this umbrella, Mr. Kurz immediately contacted the company to fix the issue. This attention to customer issues mirrors the attention to detail of the product, a greatly appreciated professionalism in both construction and customer service, and I would have no problem recommending this company to anyone. As to how I will use this umbrella. Unfortunately, my formerly happy little city is now overrun with drug addicts and predators of many kinds. I used to be left alone because I am a big guy, but now that I am in my 60s, the street predators don't see big, they just see old, and I am getting more attention from them than I would like. This umbrella gives me another dimension to defending myself, and that makes me walk more confidently than I might otherwise, which is definitely making me less attractive as a target. I am practicing the blocking and striking moves I am learning in the excellent "Dos Manos" system that was recommended along with the umbrella, and, as a novice, I have no illusions about what my capabilities are at my age. I have made up a couple of the sparring sticks that Mr. Floro describes in one of his videos: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HWbGxTb2OgU I have a training partner who is much younger and I am learning this as best I can. Even if it only gives me enough surprise and time to get away, then this is worth much more than I paid for it. Thank you Mr. Kurz for a wonderful product and a worthwhile solution to the problem of urban intimidation. I have included a picture of the sparring sticks I made in the style of Ray Floro. I measured two bamboo poles to the same dimensions as the umbrella and covered them in duct tape. I chose multicolored duct tape just because I thought it was funny to think of getting your ass kicked by a rainbow. I have also made a simple tag with my details on it and the offer of a reward if the umbrella is found. This was made of a cut-down luggage tag, some elastic cord, and some waterproof tape. It is unobtrusive and folds up with the furled umbrella. I hope all purchasers of this product find utility and enjoyment as I have.

My walking stick is a wonderful umbrella. The canopy size is terrific, the quality is superb. It is an outstanding umbrella, not to mention the self defense side of it. Putting that aside, it is a wonderful umbrella! I take it everywhere. With just a couple of straps of “velcro” it is a permanent part of my backpack.

This strong umbrella works great in the bad weather condition, also, great as a walking stick, I am satisfied with my purchase. 👍

Would prefer wood handle to plastic. Like blackthorn root: an Irish shillelagh.

This umbrella, which I always trust and purchase, is truly sturdy and substantial. This time, I ordered it with an additional rubber tip for increased stability. This upgrade has been a really satisfying plus for me.

Thank you for creating such an excellent product. The people around me have really taken a liking to this umbrella. It’s the perfect solution for those who worry about their umbrellas easily getting ruined by heavy rain. Every time someone asks about the brand of the umbrella, I’m more than happy to recommend this one. It seems like everyone wants this product whenever they see its introduction video or pictures!

Do you make a 33”walking cane, umbrella that can be used for self-defense? Women need self-defense too but your canes are much too long for women and if used will cause health problems, Bonnie Hooper asked on Fri, 09 Dec 2022 16:25

Will more sizes be available in the future please? There's a huge gap in sizes; 36.75" vs 21.3". Many of us would be thrilled for a 27-29" escrima stick sized replacement to the discontinued U-212. Thanks! David asked on Fri, 21 Oct 2022 14:20

Where are the Models U-101 and U-105? Per the warranty page, these two walking stick umbrellas have a limited lifetime warranty, but I don't see an option of purchase. Steve White asked on Sun, 09 Jan 2022 23:47

Models U-101 and U-105 are discontinued but their limited liftime warranty is still valid, which is why the warranty terms are still listed.
